About us

Introduction

The department trains artistic creative and cultural design professionals with aesthetic sense for industrial needs. The department has established three major professional areas, including graphic arts, three-dimensional crafts, and illustration applications. The four-year curriculum is arranged as follows: In the first year of study, students focus on basic aesthetics as well as professional training in art and design, establishing their fundamental skills and knowledge. The second- and third-year courses are streamed into specialized areas, and students take courses based on their professional attributes to strengthen their professional and practical skills. The fourth year features a graduation project that integrates personal character development, emphasizing innovative thinking and practical application to meet the needs of future employment in the arts, cultural, and creative industries.

Features

  1. Professional faculty and curriculum: The department features richly designed courses and professors with diversified expertise to meet students’ varying needs of learning. To foster career development, we have hired one of the top masters in the art and design industry to join the faculty. In this way, the department strengthens students' potential in art and creative design and guides students to participate in various art competitions outside of school.
  2. Professional teaching facilities and space: The department is well-equipped with professional facilities and provides 24-hour personal creative space after class to support teachers' teaching guidance and students' practice after class.
  3. Enriching students' perspectives: The department attaches great importance to students' global perspectives and has arranged four international mobile teaching sessions in recent years, such as in Italy (Illustrator Exhibition at Bologna), the United States (joint exhibition of students from the San Francisco Art Institute), and the Czech Republic (glass art visit). Each semester, the department arranges several off-campus teaching sessions, such as ART Taipei, Taoyuan International Watercolor Exhibition, and Creative Expo Taiwan, to develop students' international mobility and employability.
  4. Promote industry-academia cooperation: The department collaborated with M.C. Archimosis Co., Ltd. and AJ Hotel at Hsinchu to establish an off-campus cultural and creative workshop, RISE Art Studio, which can not only serve as students’ starting point for cross-disciplinary learning but also a great opportunity for them to experience entrepreneurship in the local community. In this way, students are able to give new meaning to their homework and sell them as artworks.
